From an article in The Chronicle, Duke’s student newspaper, about academic blogging here:
Brendan Nyhan, a second year graduate student in the political science department, has been an avid blogger for years. He has been writing his own blog since October.
Although he has considered how maintaining a blog might affect the possibility of getting tenure in the future, Nyhan said that it does not worry him because he does not write about “outlandish, embarrassing things” or his personal life on the blog.
The best quote, though, is from our esteemed department chair, Mike Munger, about his blog Mungowitz End:
“My blog has nothing to do with my teaching,” Munger said. “It is politically incorrect. And I am pretending to be a professional wrestler.”
